And I feel like this is where the refamilarizing of authentic desire comes from. As children we are always taught to tie our desire to external forces; to please others, be a winner, get the goal ect. Then, as adults, we struggle with our self worth and motivation. Not be cause we don't want to do something meaningful but because we havent learned how! Being more disciplined with yourself little by little will help your desire to be and show up for yourself and have the will to actually do it.

The word “duty” has gone out of fashion and it shows. We’re a very coddled and complacent generation.

Habit stacking was revolutionary to me!

Though I have to say, you can definitely tell he doesn’t have toddlers around who might waddle in and tip over his stack at any time

I forgot about the 5x5!

I am going to glance back at my books from this year and see what categories I'm inadvertently focusing on.

The mother in your opening story is the answer to the whole question. Children who grow up watching a curious adult become curious themselves. Mine watched me constantly. He still does. They all do, for all of us.

Woop woop I relate so much to this! I’ve also deleted all my social media off my phone, it just sucks away the best of my intentions 🫠 I’m actually about to start Atomic Habits and read Mystie’s book a few years ago. Once more into the breach, mamas! 😎😎

There’s a lot of discipline and dying to self in doing this, but I think it’s worth it.

absolutely. it’s hard to have a “job” without many deadlines or overseers. Self discipline is harder than externally enforced discipline

This was an encouraging and motivating read! I’ve been in a mental slump and am excited to stretch the brain!

Being pregnant will do that to you!! I’m purposefully saving some fun, lighter reads for next time around :)
